While the Holocaust remains the most widely studied genocide, understanding how genocides have occurred under different political systems is critical for a comprehensive education. This session explores the Cambodian Genocide (1975-1979) and the ongoing persecution of Uyghurs in China, helping educators examine how totalitarian and communist regimes have perpetrated mass atrocities. Join us to learn how to broaden students’ understanding of genocide, recognize its warning signs in varied contexts, and foster informed, empathetic global citizens.
